Volunteering

Volunteers are the backbone of many not for profit organisations. They contribute thousands of hours each year and assist to significantly improve the quality of services we can provide to our clients.

Palliative care volunteers are accepted into people’s lives and homes at a time of huge emotional upheaval, crisis and at a time of vulnerability. As well as undertaking supportive practical tasks, they can provide an objective listening ear, validating and accepting the unique feelings of both client and family or friends. Usually the volunteer only works with one client at a time and thus can offer the opportunity for a one-to-one relationship. Also, volunteers are able to offer their time without the pressure of having to "be somewhere else".
